What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old holistic healing system from India that views health as the harmonious balance of mind, body, spirit, and environment. Think of it as the original lifestyle medicine - it addresses the root causes of imbalance rather than just symptoms, helping you achieve sustainable wellness through personalised self-care practices.
What are doshas?
Doshas are the three fundamental energies that govern your physical, mental, and emotional characteristics:
Vata (Air + Ether): Creative, quick-thinking, adaptable—but prone to anxiety and scattered energy when out of balance
Pitta (Fire + Water): Driven, focused, passionate—but prone to irritability and burnout when out of balance
Kapha (Earth + Water): Calm, steady, nurturing—but prone to lethargy and stagnation when out of balance
Most people are a unique combination of all three, with one or two being more dominant.

Can my body type change?
Your inherent constitution (prakruti) remains constant, but your current state (vikruti) fluctuates based on season, stress, diet, sleep, and lifestyle. That's why we focus on what you need NOW rather than a fixed label.
We recommend retaking the quiz each season to reassess your needs.
I'm new to Ayurveda. Where should I start?
Start with our Body Type Discovery Quiz, then choose 1-2 products from your personalised recommendations. We suggest:

Are your products organic?
Yes! We use certified organic herbs and ingredients wherever possible.
All our products are:
- Free from synthetic additives
- Free from artificial colours, sweeteners, and flavours
- Not tested on animals Vegan-friendly (except products containing beeswax and honey)
- Made by hand in Australia
Do your products contain nuts?
Some of our products are formulated with nut-based oils (such as almond and coconut). Please review individual product ingredient lists carefully. If you have a severe nut allergy, please contact us at hello@ayurvedicalchemy.com.au before purchasing.
Are your products safe during pregnancy?
If you are pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, please consult your healthcare practitioner before using any products containing essential oils.
How do I use the massage oils?
For Full Body Massage (Abhyanga):
- Warm the oil bottle in a bowl of hot water for 5 minutes
- Apply oil generously to your entire body
- Start at your feet and massage upward toward your heart using circular motions on joints and long strokes on limbs
- Leave on for at least 20 minutes to allow absorption
- Shower with warm water (soap optional)
For Bath Use:
Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a warm bath and soak for 15-20 minutes.
Pro tip: Practice this ritual in the morning before your shower for an energizing start, or in the evening for deep relaxation.
How long do products last once opened?
Massage Oils: 6-12 months when stored in a cool, dry place
Teas: 12 months in an airtight container
Bath Salts: 12 months when kept dry
Soaps: 12 months
Candles: No expiration
Lip Balms: 12 months
Always check for changes in smell, texture, or appearance. Natural products may separate or change slightly over time—this is normal.
What's the difference between the GROUND, CALM, and ENERGISE products?
Each product line is formulated with specific herbs, essential oils and other ingredients to address different imbalances:
- GROUND (Vata-balancing): Warming, grounding, anchoring—for anxiety, scattered energy, and restlessness
- CALM (Pitta-balancing): Cooling, soothing, softening—for stress, irritability, and burnout
- ENERGISE (Kapha-balancing): Stimulating, invigorating, uplifting—for sluggishness, brain fog, and low motivation
Ordering & Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and other payment options available through our secure Shopify checkout.
Can I modify or cancel my order?
Please contact us immediately at hello@ayurvedicalchemy.com.au with your order number. If your order hasn't been processed yet (within 2-5 business days), we'll do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Not at this time, but our products arrive beautifully packaged and ready to gift. If you'd like a personalised note included, please add your message in the "Order Notes" section at checkout.
Can I purchase products wholesale?
Yes! We offer wholesale and distributor partnerships. Please email hello@ayurvedicalchemy.com.au with "Wholesale Inquiry" in the subject line, and we'll send you our wholesale information packet.
Shipping & Delivery
How long does shipping take?
Order Processing: 2-5 business days
Delivery Time: 3-7 business days via Australia Post (from our Forest Glen, Queensland warehouse).
Orders are typically shipped within 24 hours of processing, depending on when your order is received. Public holidays may add an extra day.
Do you offer express shipping?
Yes! Express/overnight shipping is available by request.

Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we ship within Australia only. International shipping is coming soon! Join our email list to be notified when we expand globally.
How can I track my order?

What if my package is lost or damaged?
Lost or Stolen Packages: Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages once they've been delivered by Australia Post. If you believe your package is lost, please contact us immediately with your order number and tracking information. We'll work with you to resolve the issue.
Damaged Packages: If you notice significant damage to your package upon delivery, please take photos before opening and send them to hello@ayurvedicalchemy.com.au. We'll work with you to find a solution.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We accept returns and exchanges within 7 days of delivery for full-priced items only.
You can request: (A) Full refund to your original payment method (B) Exchange for another item.
What items cannot be returned?
Items purchased with a discount/promo code Sale and clearance items Personal health and beauty products (tongue cleaners, lip balms, massage oils, nasal oil) Any opened products or products with broken safety seals Products with missing, torn, or damaged packaging.
Who pays for return shipping?
The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a tracked shipping service, as Ayurvedic Alchemy is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.

How do I initiate a return?

What condition must items be in?
Items must be returned in their original condition: unused, unwashed, unaltered, and with original packaging intact. Tags and labels must still be attached.
